LINKS TO INTERESTING WEB PAGES
Here are some interesting links of interest to ex-Sunsetters and Oak Cliff residents. In addition to Sunset web pages, I will include links to web sites of historical interest, sites with Sunset photos and anything else I find interesting to us. Check back frequently because I will be adding links as I find them.
Click on the name of the organization (it's underlined) and you will be taken to the web site. When you close the external page, you automatically will be brought back to here. I have tested these links in Netscape, Internet Explorer and Firefox and they worked for me okay in all three browsers. This covers 95 percent of the browsers out there.
Sunset Advance Placement page. This page is maintained by the Sunset faculty and gives news and info about the Advanced Placement Program activities. It tells about the courses, the faculty and students that are involved. It is an inside look on how Sunset works. (Note: This page is kind of quirky. It loads very slowly and sometimes it doesn't load at all.)
Sunset Alumni Association web site. This group was formed in the year 2000 to support Sunset activities and to provide scholarships for Sunset graduates. The page has a link to some old photos of Sunset and Oak Cliff.
Sunset Alumni Association photo gallery. Lots of old photos of Sunset and Oak Cliff.
The Sunset Foundation solicits donations from former Sunset students to support the school in activities that are not supported by tax funding.
Another Sunset Alumni Association sub-page that has a picture of Red Bryan's Smokehouse on Jefferson and a picture of a Seventh St. streetcar.
History of Oak Cliff traces Oak Cliff from its beginning on Hord's Ridge. It also has some old photos. Another subpage tells about Oak Cliff notables, some famous and some infamous. On their main page, click on the navigation link in the left column. Roam around on the Oak Cliff web site. There are lots of things to see.
This web page gives history and current status of the Texas Theater restorationn and has some old photos of the building. There is another web site that has some old pics of the Texas Theater and I am trying to remember where I found it.
This is a collection of a large number of old picture post cards. This particular link has postcards of Dallas showing old buildings; some still standing, some long gone. At the home page on this external web site, there are links to post cards for other Texas cities and towns.
Hope you enjoy these links. If you have problems accessing them, let me know and I'll try to help. I know of some more with old photos but I have to find them in my disorganized files. If you know of a link, send it to me and I'll post it here for others to enjoy. I found a link that was supposed to be about Winnetka Heights but it seemed to be a commercial link for an individual, so I didn't post it.
